I've experimented with just about every kind of light for both video and stills.  And, while LED panels looked intriguing, the limited potential for control using softboxes kept me from going in that direction.

Recently, however, some major, and less known, have announced high powered LED lights that are designed with a Bowens softbox mount.

Out of curiosity, is anyone here making money shooting video? Even a little?

I'll share a bit about me: I've earned back my investment in equipment, but got too busy with other forms of media work to really pursue paid videography gigs. I'm thinking about taking another run at the wedding industry shooting one man budget weddings but it looks like I have a lot of competitors offering prices in that $300 to $500 range. Hi all,

I was thinking it may be useful to some members for me to post my experiences of editing video on a Linux platform here, documenting what I miss, what I prefer and why, what software I use, the problems I come up against and how I get over them, if I do.

It's been over a month and I'm still using Linux as my primary operating system. This weekend I began work on an End of Year newsletter/report for one of my clients that I'm putting together using Scribus. So far, so good!  ;D

Hi all,

For some time I've seen many people struggle with getting good audio from Mixers etc into their camera. Last year I was asked to present a session about "Understanding Audio for Video" for the local video club, and the following is an excerpt from that presentation. It is mostly on general concepts, rather than specifics, but I trust this will help some to have an understanding, and then at least be aware of what the problems are (and what needs to be done to overcome them)
